Do themed games stay engaging because of atmosphere or because of their mechanics?
I’ve been noticing that some games don’t rely on complex mechanics at all, but still manage to feel engaging because of how well everything is presented. A simple core loop combined with a strong theme, visuals, and sound design can create a surprisingly immersive experience.
I recently looked at the greatest catch slot and it’s a good example of this idea — the gameplay itself is straightforward, but the atmosphere makes it feel more dynamic and enjoyable than you might expect at first glance.
